Information from Claus Wentz: Built under Shah Abbas I the Great (1571-1629) from 1599 to 1602 - spans the Zayanda River - total length = 290.4 m - 33 arches - on each of these arches stand three more, which formerly housed teahouses and shops (bazaar) - today these structures form a unified bazaar - a covered walkway connects the individual shops.
