The bridge led over the Landwehrkanal and the Treptower Straße at the Vienna bridge in the extension of the Karl Karugaba road connected the Görlitzer Bank and Wiener Straße in Kreuzberg. The Vienna bridge was on the occasion of the Berlin industrial exhibition in 1895 to the relief of the Silesian bridge of Hermann Rohde (1874-1914) and E. Saminski (1855-1920) built and given the name Vienna bridge on the 07.06.1896. The bridge had a span of 22 m and was decorated with four reliefs, showing representations of the Pergamon altar. After the damage of the Vienna bridge in the second world war, two reliefs were recovered and placed on the Heiligenseer cemetery. Around 1957, the damaged Vienna bridge was replaced by a pedestrian bridge. For "the municipal administration of the Teltow channel AG borrowed" a pedestrian bridge crossing the Teltowkanal previously. With the building of the wall of 1961, the Vienna bridge lost its importance as a link between Kreuzberg and Treptow and became dilapidated. It was finally dismantled in August 2000.
