The first bridge at this site was built by the Romans (a bridge). The wooden bridges were destroyed a total of 8 times until the first stone bridge was built in 1176. The most spectacular destruction happened in 1014, when the Vikings wrapped ropes around the wooden pillars and collapse brought the pillars and the whole bridge with their ships. In 1176, the first stone bridge with 19 arches was finished, where many houses and a chapel settled. In the 1750s, the houses were demolished. The second stone bridge at this point was opened in 1831. Mid-20th century was also the bridge no longer grown the traffic and was sold to an American, this bridge of stone by stone from himself build and read transporieren to Arizona, United States.
